What Should You Do And Not Do Before Your First Dive
Scuba diving in Maui is one of the most beautiful locations you could have possibly selected. You can experience both daytime and nighttime dives that offer you memories that are sure to last a lifetime. While preparing for your first time dive Maui there are many things you should both do and not do. Below is a brief list of things you want to consider before getting started.
Drugs & Alcohol: You do not want to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol while in the water. This will impair your ability to make rational decisions and can cause you or someone else great harm. If you have too much anxiety about being in the water without drugs or alcohol this activity probably isn’t the best fit for you. You want to make sure that you are fully alert and able to respond to directions quickly and correctly.
Medical History: You will want to consider any current or recent past medical conditions that may impair your ability to be underwater for prolonged periods of time. Make sure that you don’t have any outstanding heart or lung conditions that would prevent you from receiving the proper oxygen needed.
Tiredness: As with drugs and alcohol you want to make sure you are not too tired while underwater so that you can stay alert to your surroundings and listen to directions from your instructor. As goes with driving, being too tired while scuba diving can pose serious hazards.
Check the Weather: Make sure that your weather conditions for that day appear optimal. You do not want to be caught in rough water or a large storm as a novice.
Above all else you want to make sure that you stay calm and have fun. If you are alert and follow your instructor’s directions you are sure to have the experience of a lifetime.
