Places to Scuba Dive
Maui scuba diving is like no other. There are many different areas of Maui you will want
to discover once you become comfortable scuba diving. Remember it is extremely important
that you always learn the basics first prior to exploring new areas. See below for some of the
must-see locations for your next Maui scuba diving excursion.
Lanai Cathedrals: The Lanai Cathedrals are a short 45-minute ferry ride from Maui. This
destination is worth the short travel. It goes roughly 50 ft deep and exhibits a lot of
marine life. You are sure to see turtles, dolphins, and even reef sharks in the cathedrals.
Honolua Bay: This marine preserve has coral and tame tropical fish. Ranging from 18-45
feet deep there is something for everyone to see. You won’t want to miss the Manta
rays, barra cuda, omilu, and ulua.
Airport Beach: This location is great for beginners. With depths ranging from 20-30 feet
there is excellent dive potential for all skill levels. In this location you will want to check
out the lemon butterflies, yellow tail coris, needlefish, lionfish, and Moorish idols. Make
sure you start far north because there is a strong current that runs south.
