During Maui scuba diving you will encounter some wonderful underwater life. There is much to learn about each underwater sea creature that you will witness. This is such a magical experience it is worth learning a little bit about each creature you may come in contact with. See below for some of the creatures you may encounter during Maui scuba diving vacations.

  • Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle: This once endangered species can also be referred to as “honu.” The ancient Hawaiians can be seen referring to this sea turtle as the Honu. While they were once endangered, they are now extremely common to see while snorkeling or scuba diving. The Polynesians believed the Honu to be the great ancestors or aumakua. It is important that spectators of this species show great respect.
