What is required for PADI Certification?
Getting your PADI certification allows you to embark on new and exciting dives safely. There are a few requirements prior to getting your PADI certification that you need to meet. You need to be at least 10 years old, a decent swimmer, and in good health. It is important that you meet these qualifications so that you can dive safely. Below is a general outline of the PADI certified Maui process.
- Learn about dives: You will first go through the process of dives in a school-like environment. There are several pieces of information that you need to know prior to getting in the water that you will learn during this stage. Things you will learn include under water hand signals and how to select the proper gear.
- Confined water dives: Confined water dives allow you to practice the skills that you were taught in a safe space. You will start by setting up your gear and learn how to enter and exist the water safely. You will also want to practice getting water out of your mask and general underwater navigation.
- Open water dives: Open water dives allow you to expand on your skill set that you mastered in the confined water dives. This is the final step in your certification and will consist of 4 dives over the course of 2 days. Your instructor will elaborate on under water navigation and stress certain safety points – but remember to have fun!
